Therapy Without the Travel

Not everyone can access in-home visits. Whether you live in regional Victoria, have mobility limitations, or simply prefer the convenience of a video session, telehealth gives you access to qualified occupational therapy and speech pathology without leaving home.

Our telehealth sessions use a secure video platform. No downloads, no apps - just click a link and connect with your therapist. Sessions are the same length and quality as in-person visits.

  • Available across all of Victoria
  • Occupational therapy and speech pathology
  • NDIS (plan-managed and self-managed), private, HCP, TAC, and WorkSafe
  • Same rates as in-person sessions

How Telehealth Therapy Works

Who is telehealth therapy suited for?

Telehealth works well for a wide range of therapy needs. It is particularly suited for people who:

  • Live in regional or rural Victoria without access to local allied health services
  • Have mobility limitations or transport barriers that make in-person visits difficult
  • Prefer the convenience and comfort of therapy from home
  • Need regular check-ins, goal reviews, or therapy plan adjustments
  • Are parents or carers seeking coaching and strategies between in-person sessions
  • Require mental health OT support such as routine-building and coping strategies

What to expect in a telehealth session

Telehealth sessions follow the same clinical process as in-person therapy:

  • Before your session: You receive a secure video link via email or SMS. No app download is needed.
  • During the session: Your therapist guides you through activities, assessments, or discussions tailored to your goals. Sessions are typically 45-60 minutes.
  • After the session: Your therapist sends session notes, home programs, or resources. Follow-up sessions are scheduled as needed.
  • For children: A parent or carer should be present to support activities. Your therapist provides coaching so strategies can be practised between sessions.

Telehealth vs in-person therapy

Both formats have strengths. Your therapist will recommend the best option based on your goals:

Best via telehealth

Goal reviews, mental health OT, speech therapy, parent coaching, equipment training, NDIS consultations

Best in-person

Home environment assessments, physical mobility assessments, home modification recommendations, hands-on equipment trials

Hybrid approach

Many clients use a mix of both - in-person for assessments and hands-on work, telehealth for ongoing therapy and reviews

Same quality

Same therapist, same rates, same clinical standards. Telehealth is not a lesser service - it is a different delivery method

Getting set up for telehealth

You do not need any special equipment. Here is what you need:

  • A phone, tablet, or computer with a camera and microphone
  • A stable internet connection (Wi-Fi or mobile data)
  • A quiet space where you can focus without interruptions
  • For children: a table or desk with space for activities, and a parent or carer nearby

Victoria-wide coverage

Our in-home visits cover Melbourne metro. Telehealth extends our reach to all of Victoria, including regional and rural areas. If you are outside Melbourne and need occupational therapy or speech pathology, telehealth means you do not have to wait for a local provider.

For participants in Melbourne metro, telehealth is also available as a flexible alternative to in-home visits. Many clients choose a combination of both, depending on what works best for each session.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is telehealth therapy?

Telehealth therapy is a secure video session with a qualified therapist. You receive the same evidence-based occupational therapy or speech pathology you would in person, delivered through a video call from wherever you are in Victoria.

Is telehealth as effective as in-person therapy?

For many therapy goals, yes. Research supports telehealth for skill-building, goal reviews, parent coaching, mental health support, communication therapy, and therapy plan development. Some services, such as physical assessments or home modifications, are better suited to in-person sessions. Your therapist will recommend the right format for your needs.

What do I need for a telehealth session?

A device with a camera and microphone (phone, tablet, or computer), a stable internet connection, and a quiet space. We use a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform. No software download is required - you join via a link sent before your session.

Can I use my NDIS plan for telehealth?

Yes. Telehealth sessions are funded at the same rate as in-person sessions under the NDIS Pricing Arrangements. We work with plan-managed and self-managed participants. Your support coordinator or plan manager can confirm your available funding.

What areas do you cover for telehealth?

Telehealth is available across all of Victoria. If you live outside Melbourne metro and cannot access in-home visits, telehealth gives you access to the same occupational therapy and speech pathology services.

How do I book a telehealth session?

Fill out our referral form, call us on (03) 7043 7778, or email admin@flourishhealth.com.au. Let us know you prefer telehealth and we will schedule a video session at a time that works for you.

Can children attend telehealth sessions?

Yes. Telehealth works well for children when a parent or carer is present to support the session. Your speech pathologist or occupational therapist will guide activities and provide coaching strategies that can be practised between sessions.
